Hello! I’m [name], and I’m a certified breast augmentation specialist. Today, I want to talk to you about a common question: “Do I need a 2nd breast augmentation?”
Let’s start with some facts. This year, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported that more than 300,000 women had breast augmentation procedures in 2015 alone. That’s nearly double what it was in 2000—a staggering increase of 100%.
And that’s not all: according to an article published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), “one in three women who undergo breast augmentation will require a second procedure within five years of their initial surgery.”
So why is there such an increase in demand? And why are so many women having repeat procedures? The answer lies in the fact that it’s not just one procedure anymore—it’s two or three.
You see, we’ve come a long way since those first breast augmentations took place back in 1962 (which were performed by none other than Dr. Frank Gerow). Since then, we’ve learned how to make breasts look even more natural than ever before—and that means less work for us!

Breast Augmentation Revision
This patient was unhappy with the results of her breast augmentation procedure that was done by another doctor when she was 21. As you can see, the misplacement of the implants resulted in a very unnatural look where the implants were placed too high on her chest. During her consultation, Dr. Byun explained all options and made recommendations to best fit her body and give the best result. A large percentage of Dr. Byun’s cases are to correct the mistakes done by other surgeons.
During the surgery, an incision was made on the lower inframammary fold, the old implant was removed, scar tissue was removed, and adjustments were made to the pocket to achieve good contour. All of this was done endoscopically. New implants were inserted and checked for symmetry.
In order to avoid any additional scars, Dr. Byun used the previous surgeons incision. However, the previous surgeon’s incision was not ideal for the new implants. Fortunately, the scars should disappear over time.
As you can see, the results of the procedure are dramatic, symmetrical, and beautiful. The patient is very happy with the end result of natural looking breasts.
