Breast Implants In Kansas City Missouri

Breast augmentation, a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure, is a popular option for women and men looking to change the size and shape of their breasts. This procedure can help correct breast asymmetry, increase or decrease breast size, or feminize the chest for transgender patients. Breast implants are often used to achieve these desired results, and there are different types of implants available, including saline and silicone.

When considering breast augmentation, it’s important to understand the process and what to expect during the procedure and recovery period. The surgery is typically done under general anesthesia and involves making incisions to insert the implants either under the breast tissue or under the chest muscle. The type and placement of implants will depend on factors such as your anatomy, desired outcome, and surgeon’s recommendation.

After the surgery, patients may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with pain medication and proper post-operative care. It’s important to follow your surgeon’s instructions for recovery, including wearing a surgical bra for support, limiting physical activity, and attending follow-up appointments to monitor progress.

In addition to traditional breast augmentation with implants, there are alternative options such as fat transfer breast augmentation. This procedure involves harvesting fat from one part of the body through liposuction and transferring it to the breasts to enhance size and shape. Fat transfer can provide a more natural look and feel compared to implants, but results may vary and multiple sessions may be needed to achieve desired outcomes.

Mommy makeover procedures in Kansas City often combine breast augmentation with other cosmetic surgeries such as tummy tucks, liposuction, or breast lifts to help women regain their pre-pregnancy bodies. These customized treatment plans can address multiple concerns in one surgery, saving time and recovery efforts.

In conclusion, breast augmentation is a popular cosmetic procedure that can help individuals achieve their desired breast size and shape. Whether you choose traditional implants or fat transfer, it’s important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals, options, and expected outcomes. By understanding the process and following post-operative instructions, you can achieve the results you desire and boost your confidence.

There is a full blog series on our blog that give detailed information about the recovery process.

Risks Of Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation can give you outstanding results that will make your bustling look stunning, and elevate your self-esteem to exciting new heights. However, it is important to note that all surgical procedures involve a degree of risk. Possible risks include capsular contracture, or the formation of scar tissue around the implant, which causes an unnaturally round look in the breasts. Implants can become displaced or deflated, and in some cases, an infection can occur.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM BREAST AUGMENTATION?

Breast enlargement, or augmentation mammoplasty, enhances the body contours of a woman who is unhappy with her breast size. It may also be used to correct volume loss after pregnancy, to help balance breast size asymmetries, or to reconstruct following other breast surgeries.

Patients who are in good health but dissatisfied with the size and shape of their breasts are excellent candidates. Breast augmentation may be used to:

    • Increase breast volume
    • Create a more balanced appearance
    • Improve body proportion
    • Restore the breasts after weight loss or pregnancy
    • Reconstruct the breasts following mastectomy

After breast augmentation, your breasts will appear more proportionate to the rest of your body. They will be fuller and more prominent, but retain their sensitivity and ability to breastfeed.

While breast augmentation will enlarge the breasts, it will not alter basic defects in breast shape or form. Major asymmetries may be improved but will not be completely corrected. A slight difference in the size or shape of the two breasts is considered normal and should not be a cause for concern. If breast size or nipple position asymmetries are severe then additional procedures to further improve symmetry may be necessary.

Despite its many advantages, breast augmentation may not be for everyone. The best way to determine if you are an ideal candidate is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified cosmetic surgeon like Dr. Hlavacek. To develop realistic expectations regarding results, it’s best to look over our breast augmentation before-and-after photos.

    TYPES OF BREAST IMPLANTS

A breast implant is composed of an outer silicone shell filled with saline or silicone gel. The outer surface may be smooth or textured, and implants come in various shapes to meet the individual woman’s needs.

Additionally, high profile breast implants are available, along with implants in other profiles. The profile describes the implant’s projection from the chest wall. Textured implants, profile options, and shape options can further be discussed with Dr. Hlavacek upon consultation.

The two main types of breast implants are silicone and saline breast implants, each of which present their own set of benefits and considerations. Your surgeon will help you determine the best breast implants for you.

The FDA re-approved silicone breast implants in November of 2006. These are now silicone gel versus the “old” liquid silicone implants. Women must be at least 22 years old to select this option as directed by the FDA to ensure their emotional maturity in accepting the possible risks of having these newer implants placed.

There is no perfect breast implant, and both the saline and silicone gel implants have advantages and disadvantages. The silicone gel implants feel softer and more natural, have less chance of rippling, but are more expensive and have a higher chance of developing tightening of the scar tissue around the implant known as capsule contracture.

Saline implants are very safe, and if they deflate, your body will absorb the water. Saline implants are more prone to rippling and feel less natural than silicone.

    BREAST IMPLANT SIZE

In selecting the size of the implant, the general choice should be jointly made by the patient and the surgeon prior to surgery. While ultimately the choice of size is made by the patient, she should recognize that there are advantages to a conservative selection. In many cases, small breast implants may be ideal. Capsular contracture and rippling are more common with larger implants. Postoperative numbness and long-term sagging are also more common with large breast implants.

The shape of your augmented breasts depends on the implant size and shape, along with how your breasts appear prior to surgery. Many patients desire fuller cleavage. Although larger implants will give more cleavage, the patient’s nipple position, chest shape and breast shape largely determine the amount of cleavage that can be achieved.

Also, the same size and shaped implant on one patient can look completely different on someone else. Therefore, one should avoid picking a size or shape solely on what “looks good” on someone else. A thorough consultation and pre-operative screening with your surgeon is critical to determine your options and ideal treatment plan.

    BREAST AUGMENTATION INCISION PATTERNS

There are several ways in which the breast implant can be inserted. The size and position of the incisions will vary based on factors such as the type and size of implant used. An incision can be made under the breast (inframammary), around the bottom of the areola (periareolar) or in the armpit (transaxillary). All of the incisions have benefits and drawbacks.

The incision under the breast (inframammary) is the most common. Unfortunately, it is the incision that most people relate to breast enlargement surgery should anyone see it. Also, it may not always end up in the new inframammary fold, where it would be hidden the most.

This approach places the scar very close to the implant. If the incision should get infected, it may be more likely that the infection could reach the implant. Finally, although inframammary scars usually heal well, there are some instances of scar thickening that are very difficult to improve. However, the incision has been used for decades and remains a good option that usually has no major problems.

The periareolar incision is made in a semicircular fashion around the lower half of the areola approximately 4-5 centimeters in length. It offers the advantage of keeping the incision far away from the implant and allowing good surgical exposure of the entire pocket. The incision has a higher risk for loss of nipple sensation and difficulty with lactation as compared to the other incisions, but it also remains a good incision option.

The endoscopic transaxillary incision offers several advantages. The incision is approximately four centimeters in length placed high in the armpit. The incision usually heals very well, leaving no visible scar on the breast itself.

The use of endoscopic surgery allows Dr. Hlavacek to carry out breast augmentation with more precision and less bleeding. Special instruments designed for this purpose allow working through the small incisions, monitoring the operation on a video screen.

The pocket is tailored under direct vision rather than the traditional blind dissection. The improvement is obvious, since it is always better to see clearly what one is cutting.

    BREAST IMPLANT PLACEMENT

The breast normally covers a muscle on the chest wall called the pectoralis muscle. Breast implants can be placed above or below this muscle.

When implants are placed below the muscle, it is called a submuscular or a subpectoral placement. When the breast implant is placed above the muscle, it is called a subglandular or submammary placement, meaning that it’s below the mammary gland. Submammary or submuscular placement is dictated by the existing breast form including the amount of existing tissue and also the patient’s goals regarding augmentation.

    THE BREAST AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE

The breast enlargement operation is an outpatient procedure, meaning you may go home after the surgery and will follow up on the first post-operative day. It is carried out under general anesthesia, or in some cases, local anesthesia combined with sedation may be administered.

The selected incision is made. Through the incision, a pocket is made behind or in front of the pectoral muscles. The implant is then placed into the pocket through the incision. Symmetry and form are evaluated, and after only excellent results, the incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures. The incisions are dressed with cloth tape, and a compression bra is placed.

    BREAST AUGMENTATION RECOVERY

After surgery, your chest will be wrapped with surgical dressings and a surgical bra. Temporary drains may be used to collect accumulating fluids. You will be able to walk around immediately following the surgery but should rest for at least a day or two.

Your breasts will be bruised and swollen, and you may experience some mild discomfort for a couple of days. The pain is generally well controlled with oral pain medication. In the recovery stage, you will need to wear a compression garment or support bra for several weeks. It is important to wear the bra at all times until otherwise directed.

Patients follow up on post-operative day one for general re-evaluation and then at one week. At that post-operative visit, the cloth tape is removed and replaced with flesh-colored dressing tape, which falls off on its own within the following week. Stitches will also be removed during the one-week follow-up.

Your incisions will be noticeable immediately following surgery, but they will gradually fade and flatten for up to a year after surgery. Massage exercises may be started, and the compression garment wear will be tailored.

Recovery times vary; recovery is generally one to two weeks. It is important to limit lifting weight to less than five pounds the first week and ten pounds the second week. It is also important to limit lifting your arms above your shoulders as much as possible the first two weeks.

Patients usually return to light activity within two to three days after surgery. Full activity is resumed within two or three weeks, but no vigorous bouncing type activities (jogging or horseback riding) are recommended for 6 weeks. The chest should be protected from accidental impact and sun exposure for several months.

Although the breasts usually look good almost immediately after surgery, some swelling and bruising may obscure the final results for a few weeks, and there is an improvement in the shape over the following several months.

Following breast augmentation, routine examination and imaging as indicated by the AMA/your primary care physician, the FDA, or the implant manufacturers is important.

As with other surgeries, breast augmentation surgery carries the risk of complications. Possible complications include discomfort, bruising, infection, asymmetry and changes to sensitivity. These risks will be discussed in depth during your consultation.

    BREAST AUGMENTATION COST

The cost of a breast augmentation depends on a variety of factors, including the amount of time the procedure takes, what kind of implants you are getting, and more. Be sure to discuss the price of this procedure during your consultation with Dr. Hlavacek, and if you have any questions, be sure to check out our financing options.

    Mommy Makeover Kansas City

A mommy makeover turkey refers to a specific type of combined surgery that aims to return the mother’s body, which has undergone changes due to pregnancy and the postpartum period, to its condition before pregnancy.

The standard procedures for a mommy makeover are breast aesthetic, tummy tuck, and liposuction. Surgery techniques for these areas of the body can vary from patient to patient.

Breast enlargement, abdominal fat storage, stretch mark formation, and additional fat storage in the low back, back, and legs are all common female body changes related to pregnancy and postpartum weight gain.

What kind of surgical procedures are needed for a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover typically consists of liposuction, breast augmentation, and a tummy tuck. Pregnancy is a known risk factor for developing stretch marks in the abdominal region.

These blemishes are a further sign of poor skin health. Also, rectus diastasis (a separation of the abdominal muscles) is possible during pregnancy. With a mommy makeover, the tummy is flattened and the muscles are tightened.

As a result, the patient’s stomach will have a toned, athletic appearance. Liposuction of the hips, buttocks, and rear will also help trim the waistline. The result is a trimmer, more attractively curved waist.

Surgery on the breasts is typically part of a mommy makeover. While pregnant and nursing, your breasts go through a series of transformations. As a result of hormonal changes, breasts swell during pregnancy and then shrink again when breastfeeding ends.

Breasts may become larger than they were before pregnancy, may lose volume and appear smaller than they were before pregnancy, and may sag, or may return to their pre-pregnancy shapes and sizes.

The decision to have breast reduction surgery is made if, after pregnancy, the breasts are still significantly larger than normal. Breast implants can be used for breast augmentation if the breasts’ volume decreases, while a breast lift and prosthesis can be used if the breasts’ volume decreases and they also sag.

In which cases would Mommy Makeover be a good idea?
A mommy makeover can be done no sooner than a year after giving birth. In the case of breast surgeries, it is especially important for the breastfeeding period to have concluded. An ideal time for breast surgeries is a year after breastfeeding has ended.

Due to the presence of active mammary ducts and the increased susceptibility of breast tissue to infection during this time, determining the exact volume of a breast prior to surgery is not possible.

Mommy makeover candidates should have returned to their pre-pregnancy weights and their bodies should have returned to normal in terms of hormonal balance after one year has passed since they stopped producing breast milk.

When undergoing a mommy makeover, what procedures are typically carried out?
A mommy makeover typically entails three distinct cosmetic surgeries: a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, and liposuction. Abdominoplasty (commonly referred to as a “tummy tuck”) combined with liposuction of the flanks, back, and low back can give patients the trim waist they desire.

Mommy makeovers often include liposuction and other surgical procedures for the upper body, including the arms and legs.

For these reasons, as well as to avoid excessively expanding the surgical site, I advise delaying the procedures that intend arms and legs until the second session. Plus, a mommy makeover inevitably includes breast surgery.

Depending on what the patient wants, they can choose between breast reduction, breast lift, breast augmentation, or a combination of these procedures. Breast reduction surgery is an option for women who experience post-pregnancy enlargement of the breasts. Breast lifts are most popular when breast volume is close to average but sagging is a problem.

Breast prosthesis can be used if breast volume has diminished after lactation, and breast lift and augmentation can be performed together if sagging has also occurred.

The Mommy Makeover: What Steps Should You Take First?
Before undergoing a mommy makeover, patients should have lost some of the weight they gained after surgery and brought their weight back to normal.

Never forget that a mommy makeover is a body recontouring procedure, not a weight loss procedure. Moms should wait at least a year after they stop breastfeeding before having breast surgery as part of a mommy makeover.

Thus, milk ducts will close, reducing the risk of postoperative infection, and swelling and volume increase due to breastfeeding and hormonal factors will normalize. Additionally, prior to surgery, hormonal homeostasis should have been restored to the level it was at before pregnancy.

Patients who smoke should abstain from cigarettes for four weeks prior to surgery and for the same amount of time afterward. Also, people who have more than one medical condition should discuss their options for surgery with the appropriate division.

Given that this is a combined operation, blood counts should be just slightly higher than normal. However, if a minimum of 6 months passes between the two surgeries, they can be scheduled together.

    Mommy Makeover entails what steps?
The mommy makeover surgery usually takes between 5 and 6 hours and is done while the patient is under general anesthesia. The anesthesiologist examines the patients and conducts the standard preoperative tests.

All patients sign the appropriate consent forms and have professional photographs taken of them prior to any surgical procedures.

Personal preference has it that I take pre-op photos on the day before the procedure. The morning of the operation is spent planning the procedure and drawing the incision sites.
The mommy makeover procedure typically begins with liposuction, though the specific order of procedures can vary from patient to patient. Abdominoplasty is done after liposuction has been used to eliminate excess fat.

The procedure to remove breast tissue is completed. During surgery, drains are inserted in the breast, abdomen, and other areas where liposuction was performed to collect any excess blood and fluid.

These drains are placed to assist in the removal of edema and to drain any excess blood or fluid that may have accumulated at the surgical site.

At the conclusion of surgery, patients undergo wound dressing and are fitted for corsets. The patient is taken to the inpatient clinic once they have fully recovered from the anesthetic.

How is recovery from a mommy makeover like?
After the procedure is over, the patient is taken back to his or her room and told to eat again in about five hours. The patient is initially positioned in an upright sitting position on the bed after eating.

Once the patient’s blood pressure is stable, they are gradually allowed to get up and move around. Because the mommy makeover is a multi-stage process that requires general anesthesia, patients are advised to spend at least two nights in the hospital following the procedure.

During a patient’s stay in the hospital, doctors check their pulse and blood pressure regularly. A patient is given pain medication to help them move around pain-free after surgery. After being discharged from the hospital, patients are followed up with twice per week. About a day or two after having drains inserted in the breasts, they are taken out.

On average, patients wait 5-6 days after liposuction or abdominoplasty before having their drains removed. Surgery sites are taped with sterile tapes. After all drains have been removed, patients can take showers again two days later.

What kind of aftercare should patients anticipate following a mommy makeover?
After a mommy makeover, patients should be as active as possible. Patients recover from surgery more quickly if they are able to walk further without becoming fatigued. It has been shown that reducing sugar and salt intake after surgery aids in the rapid reduction of swelling.

After an abdominoplasty, patients should avoid heavy lifting for at least 6 weeks. After breast surgery, patients should avoid excessive arm movement for at least 6 weeks.

After a mommy makeover, why do women wear corsets?
After having an abdominoplasty and liposuction as part of a mommy makeover, you will need to wear a corset to support the areas of your body that have been altered.

The goal here is to apply pressure to the skin over the surgical area to aid in the healing process, prevent fluid and blood from collecting in the area, and facilitate faster skin adaptation in regions where fatty tissue has been removed. After a mommy makeover, the corset must be worn for at least six weeks.

Patients who have undergone breast surgery are also advised to return to using breast tape and a sports bra after a 6-week break. The goal here is to use the breasts’ weight to move the breast back to its natural position while creating a more natural overall appearance.

Do you need to apply a dressing after a mommy makeover?
After a mommy makeover, sterile strips are used to cover the incisions. Patients can still take baths with these tapes on for up to three weeks after surgery. After three weeks, these tapes are removed from the surgical site. Thus, in patients who do not have a problem with wound healing, no additional wound dressing is necessary.

Can you get rid of scars with a mommy makeover?
Surgical scars, including those left by a mommy makeover, are permanent, but they can be minimized or even made invisible with time and effort, as is the case with any other type of surgery. Three weeks after surgery, our patients begin using silicone gel or silicone drapes to conceal the scars.

Silicone gel or covers should be used for at least three months for the best results. One year after surgery, the scars have improved greatly. If our patients do not want any scars at all, I suggest they get a tattoo one year after surgery using the powdering technique, which uses a skin-colored ink to cover the scars.

Exactly how long must I wait after my “mommy makeover” before I can return to my regular exercise routine?
After 4 weeks, patients who have had a mommy makeover can resume cardio activities like jogging. Patients who regularly engage in physical activity, such as exercise or visits to the gym, can resume these activities between 6 and 8 weeks after surgery.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Kansas City

By using the patient’s own fat, fat transfer breast augmentation is a safe and effective method for women who want a subtle increase in bust size without compromising on the natural appearance or feel of their breasts. An increase of at least one full cup size is possible using this method. If you have mild breast asymmetry and want to improve the appearance of one breast so that it more closely matches the other, this is a great option. Likewise, if you’ve had breast augmentation or reconstruction before and would like to smooth out any ripples or wrinkles around the implant site, this is a good option for you as well.

Butt enhancement: Historically, the only way to achieve a fuller, higher posterior was through surgical insertion of buttock implants. Synthetic implants were commonly used, but they caused many problems for patients. Nowadays, BeautiFillTM is the most cutting-edge and effective method for buttock enhancement available. The buttocks have healthy blood flow, which aids in the transfer of fat cells and their subsequent survival.

When it comes to facial enhancement, injecting synthetic dermal fillers is an effective method for restoring lost facial volume and filling in wrinkles. However, this approach does not provide a permanent solution, and the cost can add up over time due to the need for touch-up treatments on a regular basis for as long as the patient would like to maintain the aesthetic results of the procedure. On the other hand, lip and cheek augmentation with a patient’s own fat tissue, as well as enhancements to the jawline, eyes, temples, brows, and around the mouth, are permanent and require minimal upkeep.

Hands: Collagen production declines with age, which often manifests in noticeably slender hands. With fat transfer, you can add volume to your hands and encourage your body to produce more collagen, so the effects will last much longer than they would with dermal fillers or other similar treatments. Fat transfer can give you the appearance of younger hands, which can boost your self-esteem.
