Using boob tape to keep everything in place ensures you’ll be looking your best the entire time without dealing with annoying stick-on or plunging bras. Plus, using boob tape lets you choose the amount of lift and support you want. In this article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to tape your boobs and look stunning in that backless dress.

1 Use gaffer tape or medical tape.

  1. Gaffer tape and medical tape offer the most support. “Boob tape” can describe anything from duct tape (no thanks) to boob adhesives. But if you’re looking for comfortable support that lasts all day, go for gaffer tape or medical tape. Gaffer tape is slightly stronger, but it does hurt a little more to remove. If you have sensitive skin, opt for medical tape
    • Looking for the boob tape that Kim K loves? She used gaffer tape in most of her iconic plunging neckline dresses.

2 Do a patch test before wearing boob tape.

  1. The adhesives in tape can irritate your skin, so test it out beforehand. If you’ve never worn boob tape before, cut a small piece off the roll and put it on your chest for 24 hours. If your skin gets red or starts itching, take the tape off right away and find an alternative to using tape. However, if your skin is fine after a full day, you’re good to go.
    • If you know you’re allergic to adhesives already, stay away from boob tape or any kind of adhesive tapes.

3 Clean and dry your skin.

  1. Make sure your skin isn’t slippery so the tape sticks well. Take a shower and use a mild cleanser to remove any dirt or oils from your skin. Pat your skin dry, and avoid putting on any lotions or sunscreens, since that can make tape less likely to stick.

4 Cover your nipples with cotton pads or pasties.

  1. Tape can be a little painful, so protect your nipples beforehand. You can use nipple covers or pasties, or you can simply use a cotton pad. This will help keep your nipples protected to avoid any pain or irritation when you take the tape off.
    • Plus, covering up your nipples helps them become less visible when you put your dress on. If that’s a concern for you, nipple covers or cotton pads are your friend!

5 Cut 4 to 6 strips of tape.

  1. Use scissors to cut strips that are about 12 in (30 cm) long. This will help you apply your tape much faster. Make sure your strips are about the length of the area from the bottom of your breast to just underneath your shoulder.
    • Most boob tape has an adhesive backing on it, so it won’t be sticky until you peel that off. If yours doesn’t, you can stick the edge of your strips onto a countertop or table to have them at the ready.

6 Lift your breast up with one hand.

  1. Hold your breast as high as you’d like it to sit in your dress. Stand in front of a mirror so you can see, then hold your breast with one hand. Lift it up gently and keep your boob in place as you apply your tape.
    • If you’re having trouble finding the perfect position for your boobs, put on a bra you love and see how much lift it gives you. Then, take off the bra and replicate that lift with your hand.

7 Apply the tape just above the base of your breast.

  1. Support your breast by going from the bottom up. Peel the backing off of the tape, then gently apply the bottom of the tape to the base of your breast. Press the tape down to secure it onto your skin, stopping once you get to your collarbone.
    • Keep supporting your breast with one hand as you apply the tape to make sure it stays lifted.

8 Smooth out wrinkles with your hands.

  1. Keep the tape wrinkle-free so it doesn’t show through your dress. As you apply your tape, use your hand to smooth it as you work your way upward. Don’t worry about small wrinkles—just pay attention to big ones, as those might show through a sheer dress.
    • When your first piece of tape is smooth and wrinkle-free, you can apply a second piece of tape to your other breast.

9 Add more strips as needed.

  1. Depending on your dress and cup size, you may need more tape. If 1 piece of tape gives you the support you need, then you’re good to go! However, if you need more support, add a second and third piece of tape, starting from the base of your breast and going upward. This will give you more lift and support to keep your boobs up all night long
    • The placement of your tape depends on the straps of your dress. If your dress has wide, thick straps with a plunging neckline, keep the tape on the outer portion of your breasts (near your armpits).
    • If your dress is strapless, tape your boobs horizontally instead of vertically.

10 Trim the tape so it doesn’t show behind your dress.

  1. Put your dress on and carefully cut the tape so it doesn’t show. Once your boobs are secured, it’s time for the finishing touches! Use a pair of scissors to carefully cut away pieces of tape until your straps cover the tape completely.
    • This can be a little tough to do on your own, so don’t be afraid to ask a friend for help with this step.

11 Use oil and hot water to remove the boob tape.

  1. When the night is over, steam or baby oil will help with removal. Take your dress off and stand in the shower for about 5 minutes. Get out of the shower and carefully peel the tape off, starting from the top and working your way down. Apply baby oil or olive oil to your skin underneath the tape to help it slide off.
    • Boob tape is usually single-use, so unfortunately, you can’t reuse it for another night out.

If you’re familiar with the women’s fashion and clothing/textile industry, you will know about ongoing contrasts between bras and other market options that pertain to holding the breast firm. While various options like cups, nipple and bra pads, tubes, etc. are available, people just had to make do anyone they think offers them the best considerations for their clothes. And sometimes, some people risk going out without a bra.

It all seemed fine and the world was managing until Kim Kardashian shared her secret (and some others’) about using tapes to pack ‘them boobs’. Kim’s revelation opened many people to the improvisation of using available resources to tackle the problem of arranging the breasts within different garment styles such as backless, low-cut, plunge necklines, etc. Although different types of tapes ranging from Gaffer tape to duct tape have been used (and are still being used), more brands of medical boob tape have stormed the market, ever since. So, now to the big question: what are the benefits of using boob tapes

1. THEY ARE ACCOMMODATING

The professionally designed tapes for human skin are very reliable and accommodating for any type of dress or style. You cannot wear bras with every clothes. In fact, outside professional wears and a few casual wears, bras are rarely a good choice. The restrict the boobs in certain ways and try to conceal the cleavage most times. That is not the case for boob tapes; they allow you to hold your breasts firm in any position you want them to be in your dress. This freedom is lacking with other breast-covering products. So, when it comes to thinking about the advantages of boob tapes, the first thing that should come to mind is the convenience which the product offers in multiple garment sizes. Breast tapes will perfectly accommodate plunge necklines, halter necklines, wide necklines, open-side garments, backless, low-backed garments, asymmetric necklines, strapless necklines or even the under-breast cutouts.

2. THEY ARE COMFORTABLE:

Boob tapes are so super comfortable to be worn. If you have them on, they won’t deprive your breasts the joy of bouncing while you take each elegant step, cat-walking the aisle. How you tape your boobs depend on how much they would bounce, though. Moreover, your breast and chest won’t feel caved in, which may cause aches. Since only the needed sides of the breasts are taped, there is no need to bother about the pain in the chest and back areas, no clip hurting your shoulders while trying to keep the boobs as close up as they can be.

Also, the comfort offered by this piece of luxury is so amazing that you don’t have to worry about which underwear fits what dress. You can wear them to any dress. In fact, you could try to tape your breasts to where you want them to be, underneath your normal T-shirt or gown. It will create a good impression about your appearance to people. Your breasts would appear firm and you won’t have to worry about adjusting hooks or putting your hands in your dress to relieve your breasts from choking, fixed positions.

3. NO CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT SIZES:

Another good thing is that you don’t have to worry about sizes. You could easily call your friend over the phone saying, “Hey Suzie, can you please get me the ‘usual tape’?” You don’t have to spill the beans of needing a bra and shouting your size and cup types over the phone. So, once you have purchased a boob tape, you can use it without worrying about shapes. And if your friend is coming over to your place and you’d both be rocking one of those dresses whose glory would flourish without a bra, then you can both use the same tape. You can never go wrong on cups and types.

4. THEY STAY HIDDEN

It is needless to say how bras, camis, and tubes always manage to show themselves, trying to share in the glory of a dress.  It is annoying when, sometimes, you manage to wear a dress that covers up the bra, but those annoying straps keep peeking from underneath the dress on your shoulder.

With boob tapes, bygone to the nightmares of bra revelations! You can adequately manage the quantity of tape you want to use underneath your dress; hence you can control what parts of your breasts show and which parts do not. No product has ever given a woman the chance to control what parts of her breast she wants to cover, not until the advancement of boob tapes.

With the right taping techniques, you can show as much cleavage as you wish to, while holding your breasts in place and covering your nipples. Have you ever caught anyone who admires you and tries to poke their heads in your breast because they can’t see the apparatus holding your breasts firm? That is how coverable breast tapes can be.

NB: Gawking at anyone’s breast is disrespectful anyways, no matter the circumstance. So, that’s not a take-home point from this article.

5. THEY LIFT THE BREASTS

Tapes can also lift the breasts and make the open parts of the cleavage to stand as firm as possible. By getting the best way to apply boob tapes, you can lift your cleavage as much as you want them to be. The breasts remain firm and fitted within the clothes.

The best way to let the breast stand in the fullness of their size and radiance is by letting the natural lifters (the internal ligaments and the skin) to hold them firm. Raising them artificially in an environment as tight as the bra is not medically good. Tapes do the job better, sexier, and in a more natural way than any other product in the market.

In conclusion, the world evolves, and so has the women undergarment coverage style. The advantages of using boob tapes are seeing in diverse ways that begin from being very supportive and accommodating for any dress type, being very comfortable, eliminating the worry about sizes, the ‘hidden’ advantage, and breast lifting, which is medically healthy.

Boob Tape For Strapless Dress

1

Cut your boob tape into short and long sections. For this bandeau style, you’ll need about 3 short and 2 long pieces of tape for each breast. The short pieces should roughly cover your nipple, and the long pieces will need to be the vertical length of your breast.[1]

  • Each breast is beautifully unique, and you may need more or less tape than this.
  • If you have larger breasts, you may need more tape to cover and support your tissue.
  • If you have smaller breasts, you may need less tape and could even cut the tape in half.

2

Lift your breast with one hand and guide a short piece of tape upwards. Start by placing one end of the tape below your nipple, and then pull the other end towards the top of your breast. Rub the tape down to help smooth everything out.[2]

  • Use a mirror so you can see what you’re doing.
  • Try not to touch the underside of the tape too much. The more you touch the tape, the less sticky it’ll be.

3

Put an additional piece of tape on either side of the first piece. Think of it like building the cup of a bra. You want to cover and shape your breast. In the end, you’ll have 3 pieces of short tape running vertically over the front of your breast.[3]

  • If you need more than 3 pieces of tape to cover your breast, no worries! Each breast is different, so add as many pieces as you need to feel secure.

4

Stretch a longer strip of tape under your breast horizontally. Hold up your breast with one hand, and start taping from the outside in. Rub the tape down, following the “U” shape you’ve just made to cup your breast.[4]

  • The shorter vertical pieces of tape will overlap with the longer piece of tape, and that’s okay. This gives you an extra layer of support.
