The surgery may be performed as early as 18 to 19 years old. There is a risk of breastfeeding impairment for the pre-pregnancy patient who desires breast reduction.
Breast Reduction Recovery and Potential Risks
A surgical bra or compression garment will need to be worn during the recovery period to help manage swelling and provide support. Bruising, swelling, and some discomfort is to be expected. Most patients are able to return to work and resume a majority of their normal activities after around two weeks. However, strenuous activity such as heavy lifting and exercise will need to be avoided for at least four weeks.
While breast reduction surgery is safe, there are some potential risks that have a low chance of occurring.
