Is CoolSculpting for Armpit Fat Permanent? Everything You Need to Know About CoolSculpting Under Arms

At Element Body Lab, we prioritize achieving exceptional results with CoolSculpting for our customers in Dallas, Texas. One of our favorite places to treat is the upper arm, armpit, and bra line. Why? Due to the Texas heat. Tank tops are an essential wardrobe staple here, and these areas respond beautifully to CoolSculpting!

Are you thinking about freezing away all those spots you see in a tank top? Or all those spots that cut in while you’re in a tight bra? Here’s everything you need to know if you’re considering CoolSculpting armpit, arm, or bra line/back fat.

How does CoolSculpting for Armpit Fat, Bra Fat, or the Upper Arm work?

CoolSculpting works because fat is hyper-sensitive to cold. CoolSculpting essentially crystallizes the fat cell and your body naturally flushes it out.

Yep. CoolSculpting works by freezing a targeted area of fat, like a pocket of fat at the armpit, under the arm, or at the bra line using suction applicators that draw the fat away from the body and change the texture of the fat cell. There are multiple sizes of handpieces so we can customize the treatment plan to your unique body.

Cool sculpting treatment sizes for men and women

Once the fat cell changes texture (aka gets frozen), it triggers a natural, programmed cell death called apoptosis. Over the course of three weeks to three months, your body naturally metabolizes the fat and you excrete it through your lymphatic system. Once it’s gone, it’s gone for good.. so your CoolSculpting results will last long-term.

So… How long will my armpit CoolSculpting results last? Is it permanent?

I repeat: Once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. CoolSculpting armpit fat results last long-term.

Yep, you read that right. We said results last “long term” because the fat is actually processed out of the body entirely.

Notice we didn’t say permanent. That’s because…

You need to maintain your weight to maintain your results, to some extent. When you gain and lose weight, you do so evenly across the body. The fat cells we leave behind can get bigger/smaller (think like balloons inflating and deflating) with weight gain and loss. You’ll never have as many fat cells in the area(s) treated as you did before, but if you put on an extreme amount of weight, you’re going to notice weight gain evenly across the body, even in the places you treated.

Take the example below… this is explaining weight loss vs. CoolSculpting but it’s a great visual.

As you can see, with weight loss, fat cells shrink but the number doesn’t change. With CoolSculpting the fat cells stay the same size but they are less fat cells in the areas treated.

Now if you gain weight after CoolSculpting, the fat cells in your body (remember, there are less in the area you treat) are still going to get bigger. You’ll gain and lose weight evenly across the entire body, not in one specific area. The “trouble spot” that you treated now has less fat cells, so you’re less likely to notice that area the way you used to. We’re sculpting a new shape and you’ll gain and lose weight in the shape we’ve sculpted, evenly.

CoolSculpting armpit fat results are focused around body contouring, not weight loss. The only equation for weight loss is to have a deficit of calories in vs. calories out. Don’t expect a change on the scale after CoolSculpting, but do expect to see a visible difference.

Let’s say that one more time before we move on. CoolSculpting armpit fat results are long term. Once the fat is frozen and processed out, it’s gone for good. The only thing you need to do to maintain your results is to maintain your weight. Just maintain the size of the fat cells you have left, to the best of your ability.

What areas can you treat with CoolSculpting around the armpit and arm?

There’s a lot of versatility with the equipment these days and it’s important to keep in mind that CoolSculpting is a tool. Not all CoolSculpting providers are created equal and you won’t see the same results everywhere you go. More on that in a bit…

When thinking about CoolSculpting armpit fat, you can treat:

  • the area that’s at the front side of the arm,
  • directly under the armpit, or
  • along the bra line both above and below where the bra sits

What we’ve found in our experience with CoolSculpting is that when a new client mentions an interest in freezing “armpit fat” or “arm fat” they can mean so many different things. That’s why we love virtual consultations so we can get into the details with you before you ever leave the comfort of your own home.

Let’s use some visuals to talk about treatment areas… These are real-life before and after photos of clients treated here at Element Body Lab. Photo sharing isn’t a requirement, but we love it when clients let us share their results.

With CoolSculpting and an expert provider, you can target the upper arm (aka batwing), the area at the top of the bra line along the armpit, the area directly under the bra line, or you can do all three. There are arrows outlining these areas here. 👇👇

You can also target the spot at the front line of the body that pokes out in a sports bra. Most often, this is the area people are considering when talking about armpit fat. 👇👇

The treatment plan for CoolSculpting under arms all depends on you, your goals, and your budget. What are you most excited to sculpt? Start there.

Generally speaking, squeezable fat is freezable fat… But when we’re in sensitive areas like the armpit, it’s important to account for nerves and breast tissue, which is why all clients have a medical clearance appointment prior to treatment with our medical director. We’ll talk about safety a little later on.

PSA: Just because CoolSculpting for armpit fat works, doesn’t mean that you should do it. You want… no, you NEED… an expert in your corner.

You want the kind of person that will help guide your journey, ask the right questions, and point you in the right direction. There are a few things to consider when it comes to freezing fat. From an aesthetic standpoint, the most important thing to consider is what we leave behind and from a medical standpoint, the most important aspect is safety based on your medical history.

Let’s talk aesthetics first…If you’ve heard Jessie, our lead CoolSculpting Specialist, talk about her own journey, you’ve probably heard her say, “what we leave behind is more important than what we take away, and that’s one of the many things that separates the advice you’ll receive at Element Body Lab.”

When performing a CoolSculpting treatment to the armpit, arm, or bra line, it’s not only about the fat you take away. Yes, CoolSculpting results are long term… but you’ve got to be considering what you leave behind when on the decision path with CoolSculpting.

Is CoolSculpting for armpit fat the solution?

At Element Body Lab, we want to know what exactly bothers you to see if CoolSculpting is the right fit to achieve your goals. If you’ve got skin laxity, CoolSculpting primarily addresses fat. Will you be upset with the skin texture after treatment? If not, let’s point you in the right direction…

If you’re actually bothered by muscle tone, CoolSculpting addresses fat. Are you going to be happy with the results you invested in? If not, let’s point you to the right solution…

If you’d be better served by another procedure you should know that. If you’d benefit from coupling your CoolSculpting arm or armpit treatment with a muscle tone procedure, you should know that. Whatever the goal is, we’re here to help.

We consider ourselves artists and we count our lucky stars every time we have a client ask for our advice. We’re blessed with this opportunity to sculpt the body of your dreams. We are honored by your trust.

We’re applying the science behind cryolipolysis and the artistry of body contouring to get you the results you’re looking for when you decide to freeze away fat for good. Or we’re pointing you in the best direction (even if that means sending you to another practice for something besides CoolSculpting).

That’s why we have such a stellar reputation in this industry. We believe in doing right by our people. That’s what success looks like to us.

Is it safe to use CoolSculpting under arms?

Earlier we mentioned the need for a medical clearance because of the sensitive nature of this area. Anywhere you’re treated, you’ll need medical clearance but especially near breast tissue and the armpit.

Is CoolSculpting safe in the arm? The armpit? The bra line? Maybe yes, maybe no. It depends on if you’re deemed a good candidate for the CoolSculpting treatment and your unique medical history, including surgeries and medications.

CoolSculpting FDA cleared for fat reduction for bra fat, back fat, and in the upper arm. Just because the FDA cleared the treatment doesn’t necessarily mean that you should do it.

If you’ve had a lipoma in the arm, our in-house protocol is to avoid treating these areas. If you’re mostly concerned about breast tissue, not fat – then we’d rather protect your pocketbook because CoolSculpting doesn’t work on breast tissue. There are risks and side effects in anything you do, especially in areas like the upper arm and armpit.

Our medical director oversees all treatments and safety protocols and will answer any questions you have in your medical clearance appointment. Best part? There’s no cost associated with a consultation or medical clearance visit. Take the next step and book your virtual consultation online.

Coolsculpting Armpit Fat Cost

How much does it cost to freeze armpit fat with CoolSculpting?

Cost is the most common question we get here at Element Body Lab, which is why we’ve put together tons of tools on our website. Start your research around cost by checking out our CoolSculpting Prices & Packages Page and keep in mind that the most accurate way to know your unique pricing would be to schedule a virtual consultation with our team.

CoolSculpting armpit fat is priced by the cycle. That’s a unit of measurement describing the application of a CoolSculpting handpiece to the body. Depending on which area you’re hoping to target, the treatment plan is going to vary. Additionally, depending on your anatomical build, costs vary.

The best thing about CoolSculpting is how you’re able to customize the treatment, but it’s also the thing that makes answering the question of “cost” a little more complicated.

Here’s what the armpit fat treatment usually looks like. 👇👇

As you can see, one handpiece is applied to each armpit area for a total of two cycles. Two cycles cost $1,500 at Element Body Lab.

Here are some ball-park estimates for CoolSculpting cost by area:

  • Armpit fat (front of the bra): $1,500 for one session (aka two cycles); $2,700 for two sessions (aka four cycles); $3,600 for three sessions (aka six cycles).
    • Clients usually do 2-3 sessions for this area
  • Upper Arm (batwing): $1,500 – $2,700 per session (2-4 cycles per session, depending on the length of the arm)
    • Clients usually do 1-4 sessions in this area
  • Bra Line (above the bra): $1,500 – $2,700 per session (see above)
    • Clients usually do 3-4 sessions in this area
  • Bra Line (below the bra): $1,500 – $2,700 per session (see above)
    • Clients usually do 3-4 sessions in this area

When you book your free virtual consultation, you’ll receive a customized cost quote that’s specific to you. There’s no cost associated with the virtual consultation – it’s designed to be education and answer the question of cost in a really easy and convenient way.

What happens during a CoolSculpting treatment?

Once you’ve had your consultation and decided on the treatment, you’ll plan out your treatment day. We’ll give you all of the unique treatment advice leading up to your time with us, but here’s what to expect when you’re here:

  • Pre Treatment Photos
    • We’ll want to capture the “starting point” – and the photos can be taken with a bra, in a bikini, or in a specific top that you notice the fat in.
      • We prefer a strapless bra for armpit fat and a sports bra for all other areas for women; shirtless for men
  • Cleanse and Prep for Treatment
    • We’ll mark the treatment area using sharpies and the CoolSculpting templates to make sure we’re all on the same page on the area we’re targeting in the treatment.
    • Then a pre-treatment skin wipe is used to cleanse and prep the skin
    • A gel pad or a gel is placed on the treatment area as an additional protective barrier
    • A suction handpiece is placed on the marked treatment area
  • CoolSculpting Armpit Fat Treatment Begins
    • Depending on the size of the handpiece, you’ll be actively treating for 35 to 45 minutes per “cycle”
    • You’ll want to be as still as possible during the treatment itself to avoid any subtle movements that can shift the applicators
      • We can throw up a movie or TV show or you can listen to a podcast in some headphones. Try not to be on your phone during this treatment because “scrolling” and/or movement will shift our placement.
    • The sensation of cooling feels like an ice pack on the skin. It’s uncomfortable, but not painful. You’ll go numb eventually (after 5-7 minutes) and the rest of active treatment time is relatively comfortable.
  • Treatment Ends
    • When the cooling phase has ended, the suction handpiece is removed and a manual massage is given. This is often the least favorite part of the treatment.
      • It feels like a cold foot in a hot bath, and the massage feels like we’re rubbing on top of a bruise. It lasts 2 minutes and by following these protocols, results are improved up to 67%.
    • If you’re doing multiple cycles to get full coverage, the same process is repeated until all areas have been treated.
  • Back to life!
    • Once the last area is treated, you’re free to continue with your normal life. We recommend avoiding a sunburn, any aggressive exfoliation, and exposure to extreme temperature (saunas and cryotherapy chambers) for a few days to a few weeks, if possible.
    • Other than that, there are no restrictions. Get back to work, working out, and living your best life.
  • Return in 6-8 weeks for progress photos
    • We’ll schedule your progress photos at 6-8 weeks, along with your 2nd round of treatment, if needed.
  • Final photos at 3 months
    • Full results develop slowly, over the course of 3-4 months. We’ll schedule your final after photos 3-4 months after your last session in the area.

Does CoolSculpting arm fat work?

Of course it does. We wouldn’t be in business if CoolSculpting didn’t work.

It’s not a magic wand and there’s no one thing or one procedure that will work for 100% of people, but the satisfaction rate we see with our clients is extremely high. This is partially because it’s a great technology, but more importantly because we know how to use it.

We know that your results are our reputation and if you’re not a good candidate for CoolSculpting for armpit fat, maybe we can assist in the advice you need for something that would work for your goals. Chances are, if you think you’re a candidate – you are. But meet with the experts to make sure.

Ask the questions, speak your concerns, and share your story with others. That way when the next person in Dallas asks if CoolSculpting armpit fat works, or if they’re interested in freezing armpit fat with CoolSculpting, they know who to trust (that would be us) and that the CoolSculpting under arm treatment works and is safe… when you’re the right candidate for it. See what we did there? We gave you a reason to schedule a free consultation with Element Body Lab, the Dallas CoolSculpting Experts.

Will you get the same CoolSculpting armpit fat results no matter where you go?

Not even close. Not all CoolSculpting providers are created equal. The CoolSculpting under arms treatment plan (or anywhere else for that matter) is going to vary from place to place, and from provider to provider. Not all providers take time and attention to ensure amazing results. Not all providers have an artistic eye. Not all providers care, to be honest.

But we do. We care about every piece of the puzzle that is CoolSculpting.

The treatment plan matters, the technology matters, but the most important aspect of the CoolSculpting journey is the applicator placement. And the person placing the applicator.

We’re in it together and when you choose Element Body Lab for your Dallas CoolSculpting treatment, you can expect the gold standard treatment. You can expect results, but you can also expect to be met with a team of people who prioritize your goals, not your cash.

We want your business and your loyalty. We want to do what’s right by you. We want to freeze away your unwanted (arm or armpit or anywhere else for that matter) fat for good so you can get back to living your best life.

We want you to feel what it’s like to not even think about that fat. We want you to forget all about your CoolSculpting treatment and be standing there, looking in a mirror and thinking how fantastic you look and take all the credit yourself.

Of course, we want you to tell your friends about your love for us and refer everyone you know so they can feel the same… but more importantly, we want to give Dallas the CoolSculpting experience it deserves.
