How Much Does A Brow Lift Cost In Canada

A brow lift is a surgical procedure that lifts the skin and muscles of the forehead, removing sagging and creating a more youthful appearance. While you may think that an eyebrow lift costs thousands of dollars, there are affordable options available in Canada that can make this life-changing procedure possible for you.

Brow lift surgery can be performed through several different methods, but many patients choose to undergo a minimally invasive brow lift procedure called endoscopic brow lift surgery. This method involves making small incisions in the scalp and then using tiny instruments to perform the procedure. A natural looking hairline is created by removing any excess skin and fat from around your forehead. The result is a refreshed look with little scarring or discomfort!

At our world-class practice in Toronto, brow lift is a very popular procedure. Ask yourself, do you find that no matter what you feel like inside, your facial expression has taken a negative turn? Our eyes and brows have a great influence on the expressions we make every day.

Alongside a facelift, we also offer our patients the option of a forehead or brow lift procedure for rejuvenation of the brow and eye area. The typical effects from natural aging of the face are primarily due to weakening skin and musculature that leads to volume loss and sagging. One of the first areas this effect can appear is in the forehead and brow area. When we target this troublesome area with a brow lift procedure that opens the eyes and restores a natural arch in the eyebrows, patients look lively, happier, and younger almost instantly.

What is a Brow Lift?

The technical cosmetic procedure is called a browplasty, but it’s commonly referred to as a brow lift or a forehead lift. The goal of the procedure is to elevate drooping eyebrows and to remove fine lines that run across the forehead. Below, we’ve included information about the procedure. If you have any questions or would like to book a consultation, please contact us today!

What can a Brow Lift Improve?

Many of our patients find that a brow lift will Improve a tired look. In Fact, many of our clients may mistakenly believe that they need eyelid surgery when the sagging brow is to blame for their drooping, upper eyelids. People are often surprised by how dramatically their appearance can be changed for the better when the eye area is opened up and a serious, tired or angry look is erased with a brow lift. The best way to find out what is leading to the change in your appearance, and what the best solution will be, is to come to meet with us for a consultation. Below, we’ve included what the procedure can improve:

  • The wrinkles and furrows on your forehead that age you
  • The moderate to severe frown lines of the forehead
  • The deep forehead creases
  • A tired or angry facial expression
  • The look of heavy or hooded upper eyelids

Can I combine my brow lift with other procedures?

The procedure is often done in combination with a facelift but the surgical work of the eye area and upper face are separate procedures. Many people will benefit greatly from mid-face and lower face rejuvenation alone, however, if you feel that your upper face appears tired, angry, or aged, or if you have used Botox for years and would like to permanently benefit from the smooth, lifted brow look, then a surgical brow lift may be a worthwhile investment.

Patients also often combine a brow lift with eyelid surgery, also referred to as blepharoplasty. Your plastic surgeon will help you to understand the best options for your facial cosmetic surgery and how to meet your aesthetic goals.

During your visit, Dr. Golger (a proud member of the American Board of Plastic Surgeons & a member of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons) and Dr. Romy will be happy to answer your questions, address concerns you may have, and share real brow lift before and after photos so that you have all the information you need to take the next steps in your transformation. You should be as open and honest with the surgeons as possible about your aesthetic goals. Good communication leads to great results.

If you’re happy with the surgeon’s assessment, surgery will be booked, and the surgeons will provide pre and post-operative instructions. It’s important that you follow these instructions, as they are designed for patient safety and to create the best brow lift results.

What to Expect on the Day of my Brow Lift?

A brow lift procedure will take approximately 1-2 hours and is completed under twilight anaesthesia or intravenous sedation. Your plastic surgeon will create an incision that sits behind the hairline at the top of your head to allow for lifting of the forehead skin and access to the underlying tissue. The coronal brow lift is considered the classic, or, standard approach and offers the most permanent and dramatic results, though it does require a more extensive surgical incision. In certain cases, this type of forehead lift is necessary to do the extensive work and removal of excess tissue that a patient desires. The long incision is made behind the hairline and may reach from one ear to the other.

When we are correcting deep frown lines and a sagging forehead, the underlying tissue, and the brow muscles are selectively adjusted to minimize dramatic furrows and downward pulling. That means that you may no longer need the regular Botox required to soften those strong muscles. One of the great benefits of this operation is the permanent, effective result that can be achieved with one treatment, versus ongoing treatment with neuromodulators like Botox.

What is an Endoscopic Brow Lift?

Under twilight anaesthesia or intravenous sedation, an endoscopic brow lift uses several small incisions behind the hairline to insert an endoscope, or viewing device, into the underlying tissue. This provides Dr. Golger and Dr. Romy a clear view of the tissue and allows for specific modifications to be carried out. This approach is considered to be less invasive than the classic approach and will result in less scar concerns, however, the effects may be less dramatic and not as long-lasting as they would be from a more traditional method.

Each can be appropriate depending on the individual and one-on-one consultation with your plastic surgeon will help you to appreciate which method will help deliver the results you want.

Brow Lift Recovery?

Following your procedure, we will apply surgical dressings to the treatment site, which can typically be removed within 3 days. We’ll send you home with detailed guidelines for proper aftercare, including steps for elevating your head and applying cold compresses as needed to reduce swelling. You may return to your normal routine after 1-2 weeks. We advise that you leave the more strenuous activities until 3-6 weeks post-operation. Most healthy clients heal very well with no issues or complications from this procedure. Incision lines are carefully placed in the hairline to hide their appearance and once the scar has matured, it will usually fade to a pale, barely-there line within the hair.

The Surgical Experience

Brow lifts are performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure in an accredited surgical facility. The surgery typically takes around 2 hours to complete depending on the approach. Patients can generally return to work and resume normal activities within a 7 days following surgery. A variety of techniques can be used to address the forehead. In a direct brow lift, this approach places the incision in the natural crease of the brow. Weak and sagging skin and tissue will be lifted and reattached to the brow bone. This approach does not affect the forehead and works to treat a sagging eyebrow and eyelid. A lateral temporal brow lift places the incision line in the hairline. These incisions are typically 3-6 cm, and are hidden by the patient’s hair. This technique repositions the eyebrows and improves mild drooping of the upper eyelid.

Cost

Each brow lift surgery is tailored according to how subtle or dramatic patients desire their results to be. Patients can expect to pay between $3,800-$7,500 for this procedure.

How much does blepharoplasty cost in Canada?

How much does blepharoplasty cost in Canada?

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is beneficial for both men and women who have extra skin and fat in their upper or lower eyelids. Traditionally, the bulk of patients who opted for this facial procedure were those who were trying to reverse age-related changes.

These days, however, many people in their thirties and younger opt for blepharoplasty in order to treat illnesses that run in their families. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about blepharoplasty and how much it costs in Canada.

What Is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a facial surgical procedure that involves removing extra skin from the eyelids.  As we become older, our eyelids extend, and the muscles that support them weaken. This can result in the accumulation of extra skin and fat above and below the eyes.

In addition to getting older, drooping skin around the eyes can impair peripheral vision, particularly in the top and outer regions of the visual field. These eyesight issues can be resolved or reduced with blepharoplasty.

Signs of Aging in The Upper Lids

Patients wanting upper lid blepharoplasty frequently observe the following upper eyelid skin changes:

  • Thin, loose, and excess skin on the eyelids;
  • Eyelid ptosis and a worn-out appearance caused by droopy or sagging eyelids;
  • Excessive fullness of the upper eyelids brought on by sagging and bulging fat;
  • Too many upper eyelids caused by the retraction of fat into the eye socket;
  • Lack of an upper eyelid crease;
  • Asymmetrical eyelid crease;
  • Uneven margin positions on the eyelids.

signs of aging in the lower lids

Your lower eyelid’s aging changes are primarily caused by the under-eye bone’s deterioration and, to a lesser extent, by changes in the skin and soft tissues. Age-related bone loss in the under-eye region causes the eyebags to enlarge, the eyelids to droop and sag, and the under-eye grooves to deepen.

Blepharoplasty patients frequently observe the following lower eyelid aging changes:

  • Skin that is too thin;
  • Excessive fat in eyebags;
  • Excessive hollowing brought on by loss of soft tissue and bone;
  • Lower eyelids drawn downward (eyelid retraction);
  • Ectropion, or outward turning of lower eyelids, due to age-related muscular weakening or scarring from previous eyelid surgery;
  • Eyelid corners that droop to give the eyes a sad expression;
  • Entropion or inward turning of the lower eyelid margin, as a result of overactive muscles .

What Are the Benefits of Lower or Upper Blepharoplasty?

Patients seeking blepharoplasty often want to lessen aging and worn-out appearances near the upper and/or lower eyelid regions. Blepharoplasty can help with a variety of special requirements.

Here are a few benefits of eyelid surgery:

  • Shrinking the eye area’s sagging skin;
  • Removing under-eye bags that provide the impression of shadows or dark circles;
  • Addressing any extra skin or fat, near your eyes, that may be impeding your vision;
  • Smoothing the skin for a look that is younger and refreshed.

In order to learn more about whether blepharoplasty can help you achieve your cosmetic goals, you should contact a plastic surgery clinic. If the plastic surgeon’s assessment concludes that you would benefit from this surgery, a custom treatment plan will be created for you. For example, a brow lift may be recommended as an extra operation if you want a more thorough facial rejuvenation.

Who is a good candidate for blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is typically an option for patients who have excess eyelid skin, protruding pockets of fat, lines, wrinkles, dark circles, or shadows around their eyes. In addition, candidates for eyelid surgery should ideally lead healthy lifestyles. They should be:

  • Free from health problems that could slow the healing process
  • Non-smokers

If you’re considering blepharoplasty, you should also be realistic in your objectives and goals. You should call an eyelid surgery clinic to find out whether you’re a good candidate for eyelid surgery.

What is a blepharoplasty recovery like?

Your eyelid may feel painful and tight following blepharoplasty surgery. Your eye might also be runny, dry, sticky, itchy, or light-sensitive. For a few days, your vision might be fuzzy. To relieve your pain and discomfort, your doctor will prescribe you medication.

It’s crucial that you maintain a clean eyelid and refrain from rubbing it. For information on how to clean and take care of your eye, consult your doctor. Your stitches might fall out naturally or your surgeon might take them out three to five days after surgery. For one to three weeks after surgery, your eyelid may be puffy and bruised.

Within 10 to 14 days following surgery, most people are ready to return to work and their social lives. That being said, you can still have minor bruising around your eyes two weeks after surgery.

How much does a blepharoplasty procedure cost in Canada?

Upper eyelid surgery typically costs $5,500 with local anesthesia, or $7,000 with general anesthesia. Typically, a lower blepharoplasty costs $9,000 or more. This may or may not include consultation fees. The price may reach $15,000 or more for patients, who have both upper and lower eyelid surgery or a double eyelid surgery.

The overall cost will differ from patient to patient because the operation is tailored to each patient’s needs. The complexity of a patient’s needs and the surgical treatments used to help them reach their aesthetic goals will ultimately determine the cost of eyelid surgery.

A more detailed estimate can be given once you consult with a plastic surgeon and they develop your personalized treatment plan. If extra skin is blocking your vision, your insurance company might pay for the procedure. Your optometrist can determine whether your eyelid surgery may be deemed medically essential, by having you come in for a visual eye exam.
