Mini Tummy Tuck Before & After Pictures near Fort Lauderdale, FL
To help you achieve a toned midsection, Dr. David J. Levens, a board-certified plastic surgeon located in Coral Springs, can improve the area below the belly button for patients in Fort Lauderdale and Broward County with mini tummy tucks for men and women.
Dr. Levens and his fantastic staff enjoy empowering their patients to look their very best so they can grab every opportunity that life has to offer them. Sometimes, you only need to remove excess fat from the area below the belly button to achieve optimal results and to look your best. In life, we know that looking your best is important. And you have complete control over how you look now so why not contact us today to set up your consultation for a mini tummy tuck.
With a mini tummy tuck, your surgery requires a smaller incision than what’s used for a full tummy tuck. With a mini tummy tuck, the navel does not need to be re-positioned and, in addition, the underlying muscles are not tightened. But as you can see from the before and after photos of procedures performed in our Coral Springs facility, Dr. Levens can really help you remove the excess fat with a limited abdominoplasty that improves your stomach area, restoring a flat abdominal contour by removing excess fat and skin from below the belly button.
MINI TUMMY TUCK
Through pregnancy, previous C-section, weight fluctuations, or genetics the lower abdomen may develop some loose or hanging skin, a bit of a bulge below the belly button, and some stubborn fat that won’t go away regardless of a healthy diet and exercise. This can be very frustrating, particularly for patients who are otherwise very fit and feel good about how they look everywhere else. It can be a source of significant self-consciousness when wearing a bikini or while being intimate. A mini tummy tuck is an abdominoplasty procedure that addresses this specific area and restores a more athletic and youthful appearance to the lower abdomen. In contrast, the full tummy tuck addresses the whole area above and around the belly button. The mini tummy tuck is best for patients who have minimal excess skin, fat, and muscle. The mini abdominoplasty focuses on the lower abdomen area, resulting in a shorter recovery period. Get the mini tummy tuck Tampa with Dr. Brown and the team at TA&PS.
THE PROCEDURE
An incision is placed at the lower aspect of the abdomen well below the bikini line and is typically about as long as a C-section scar. Through this incision, the lower aspect of the six pack muscles (rectus abdominis) can be sewn back together if they are separated, which flattens a bulge that may have resulted from pregnancy or previous weight gain. Typically, liposuction is also performed to achieve the best contour possible by removing stubborn pockets of fat during the mini tummy tuc
WHAT TO EXPECT
A mini tummy tuck is performed in a surgical facility, under general anesthesia and most patients go home the same day. The surgery typically takes between 1-2 hours. The recovery period is typically about 2 weeks, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for 6 weeks. Patients report high satisfaction of their surgical results and love having a well-shaped, tighter abdomen. Results after a mini tummy tuck are permanent. However, pregnancy or unnecessary weight gain will compromise the results so it’s best to maintain a proper diet and to be stable at your goal weight prior to surgery.

DOES HAVING A PRIOR C SECTION MATTER?
Many women who are candidates for mini tummy tucks have had a previous C-section. For these patients, the mini tummy tuck incision is made just below the previous scar, and the lower abdominal skin is pulled down tight and excess skin is removed, leaving a flatter/smoother contour. The newly created incision will be the only scar that remains.
WILL LIPOSUCTION ALONE GET THE JOB DONE?
For many patients with fullness that is isolated to the lower abdomen, properly performed liposuction will achieve excellent results. However, if a patient has skin looseness preoperatively, or if there is a bulge from the six pack muscles being too far apart in the lower abdomen (called a diastasis), a mini tummy tuck would be recommended to obtain the best results.

The mini tummy tuck surgery is designed to sculpt the abdomen, removing excess skin and fat and leaving the area looking smoother and more toned. This technique, also known as partial abdominoplasty surgery, as performed by double board-certified plastic surgeon Nathan Eberle, M.D., D.D.S., F.A.C.S. of the Weston Center for Plastic Surgery is popular among Fort Lauderdale and Broward County area residents who wish their stomach was flatter and more defined.
WHAT IS A MINI TUMMY TUCK?
A mini tummy tuck, also known as a mini-abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure that tightens loose skin on the lower abdomen between the area of the belly button and the pubic region. In comparison to a full tummy tuck, a mini tummy tuck involves a much smaller incision across the lower abdomen, while the region of the belly button is left intact. A mini tummy tuck does not remove fat from the upper abdomen as a regular tummy tuck does.
BENEFITS OF A MINI TUMMY TUCK
The biggest advantage of the mini tummy tuck is the smaller scar in comparison to a regular tummy tuck. The tummy tuck is a less rigorous and complex surgery than the regular tummy tuck and recovery time is quicker. This procedure can be done with or without muscle tightening of the lower abdomen. The mini tummy tuck restores a flat belly and a tight, firm contour of the lower abdomen, yielding a firmer-looking appearance and boosting self-confidence and self-esteem.
IS A MINI TUMMY TUCK RIGHT FOR ME?
Mini tummy tucks were created for people who have excess skin or fat located below their belly button rather than above it. This type of partial abdominoplasty is commonly performed on women who have given birth. Men and women who have lost a significant amount of weight may also be good candidates for a mini tummy tuck. Ideal candidates are at a stable weight, are in good general health, and are not planning to become pregnant or lose a significant amount of weight in the near future.
HOW INVOLVED IS THE MINI TUMMY TUCK PROCEDURE?
Because it involves the abdominal area, a mini tummy tuck is a fairly involved form of plastic surgery, though less involved than the full abdominoplasty surgery. Compared to the full tummy tuck, it requires shorter incisions, a shorter surgical process, and a shorter recovery period. It is performed under general anesthesia and takes the doctor between one to two hours.
First, an incision is made in the lower part of the abdomen, usually low enough that it can be covered with underwear or a bathing suit. Next, excess skin and fat below the belly button are trimmed and removed. The natural tissues are sculpted to provide a smoother, younger-looking contour. The muscles may also be tightened, particularly when the surgery is performed on a woman who has given birth, as the abdominal muscles often separate during pregnancy. The belly button may be repositioned during this procedure. Finally, sutures are used to close the incisions.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY AFTER A MINI TUMMY TUCK?
While the recovery after a mini tummy tuck is shorter than that for a full tummy tuck, most Fort Lauderdale area patients still take at least one to two weeks away from work. During the first few days, you will need to spend plenty of time in bed, before gradually returning to your normal activity level. Common side effects include discomfort and soreness, bruising, and swelling. A compression garment must be worn to support the abdominal tissues for up to six weeks. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least six weeks.
HOW MUCH DOES A MINI TUMMY TUCK COST?
The mini tummy tuck is considered to be a less expensive option for patients who are considering a full abdominoplasty surgery but wish to focus on excess tissue located below the belly button area. Financing is available.
