He was renowned for his hits such as “Taxi,” ”Cat in the Cradle,” “Mr. Tanner,” and “Story of a Life,” which sold over 16 million records on vinyl. Chapin was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and achieved global success. People flocked to see him perform live, and his shows always sold out. Harry was not just a musician, he was also a philanthropist who donated a portion of his concert earnings to combat hunger in Long Island, NY and around the world. He left a lasting impact and inspired many with his kindness. Unfortunately, he passed away in a car crash on the Long Island Expressway in 1981.
