There are many factors that go into calculating the cost of gummy bear breast implants. The size and shape of your breasts, the type of implant you choose and the location where you live all play a role in determining the price tag on this procedure. It’s also important to remember that consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons are free! So if you have any questions about what kind of results gummy bear breast augmentation can offer or how much it will cost, don’t hesitate to reach out.
In this guide, we review the aspects of Gummy Bear Breast Augmentation Cost, gummy bear breast implants vs silicone, gummy bear implants vs silicone cost, and gummy bear implants recall.

Gummy Bear Breast Augmentation Cost
Gummy bear breast implants are one of the most popular options for women looking to add curves to their chest. The gummy bear implant is so named because it resembles a gummy bear, in both shape and size. As such, it can be used to enhance your breasts in a way that imitates natural breast development better than other implants on the market. But despite its popularity, there’s been some debate about whether or not the implant is worth its price tag. A recent study found that women who had undergone gummy bear breast augmentation surgery were less satisfied with their results than those who had gone under the knife for other types of implants—but this may have more to do with unrealistic expectations than anything else! In this article we’ll explain what exactly makes these particular implants so expensive (hint: it’s not just materials), why they’re still one of the most popular options out there despite their high cost, and how much they might cost you depending on where you live

Why are gummy bear breast implants so expensive?
The gummy bear breast implants are made of silicone, a material that costs more than saline. Silicone is a more durable material than saline, so it can last longer and feel fuller to you. However, the silicone gel used in these implants is made from a special type of silicone called gummy bear gel. This particular type of silicone has been specially developed for use in medical devices—and it’s much more expensive than regular silicones found in other products like glue or shampoo.
The result? The cost of this procedure is higher because you’ll have to pay not only for the surgery but also for an expensive material used during the procedure itself!
How much does gummy bear breast augmentation cost in NYC?
The average cost of gummy bear breast augmentation in NYC is $8,000. This is about half the national average for this procedure, which ranges from $4,000 to $6,500 according to data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). The price can vary depending on where you live and the surgeon you choose. In general, however, prices are cheaper in other parts of the country because there are fewer resources available there.
Looking for the right plastic surgeon
The first step in the process is to find a board certified plastic surgeon. You should look for a surgeon who specializes in breast augmentation and performs hundreds of these procedures each year.
It’s also helpful if your chosen plastic surgeon has experience with gummy bear breast augmentation, as this specific technique has been proven effective at creating natural looking breasts without risk of complications or deformities.
Look for a doctor with a good reputation; they should be able to provide plenty of before and after photos from their own patients as well as glowing testimonials from satisfied clients.
Gummy bear implants are one of the most popular breast augmentation options available.
Gummy bear implants are a type of silicone implant that are shaped like a gummy bear, with a round head and tapered base. These implants are slightly smaller than most other breast implants, making them an excellent choice for women with small breasts. The rounded design also means the weight of the implant is evenly distributed across the entire bust so there’s no saggy or uneven look to your chest area.
Gummy bear implants come in different sizes, but most women choose between 225 cc and 300 cc. They can be filled up with either smooth or textured surface options depending on your preference for feeling less or more noticeable under clothing (textured surfaces may feel more natural).
gummy bear breast implants vs silicone
When considering breast augmentation, one of the biggest decisions you have to make is regarding the implant selection. Currently, most patients opt for silicone implants because they’re the most natural in feel, texture, and appearance. They’re also a lot less likely to show wrinkles, folds, or creases through the skin, making them the preferable option.
However, not all cohesive-gel silicone implants are built alike. You can choose between “gummy bear” silicone implants or traditional silicone implants, and that’s where the choice becomes tricky. Both types of breast implants look incredibly natural, but they have their unique sets of advantages and potential drawbacks.
This article aims to highlight the differences between traditional silicone implants and the gummy bear variants.
What are gummy bear implants?
“Gummy bear” is a non-scientific term used to describe silicone implants filled with dense and highly-cohesive gel. These are form-stable silicone implants that retain their shape even when the outer shell breaks, just like gummy bears. The cohesive gel inside these implants is thick rather than liquid, so it doesn’t leak out of the shell. Gummy bear implants can be round or teardrop-shaped, i.e., narrow at the top and broader at the base, and they feel natural to the touch.
What are traditional silicone implants?
Traditional silicone implants are also filled with a cohesive gel, but they’re softer than gummy bear implants. Their softness makes them resemble the natural bounce and texture of actual breast tissues more closely than gummy bear implants. Traditional silicone implants also contain cohesive gel, but they’re not as form-stable as gummy bear implants. They also carry a higher chance of the gel leaking out when the shell breaks.
What are the differences between traditional silicone implants and gummy bear implants?
The primary difference between traditional silicone implants and gummy bear implants lies in the consistency of the gel contained within the shell. The consistency of the cohesive gel in gummy bear implants is thicker and more “form-stable,” i.e., there’s no chance of it leaking out of the shell. No matter what happens, gummy bear implants will retain their original shape.
Both gummy bear implants and traditional silicone implants are softer than saline implants, resembling the texture and bounce of natural breasts. However, gummy bear implants are slightly harder than traditional silicone implants because of the higher density of their cohesive gel. Traditional silicone implants have more bounce, though the difference isn’t significant.
Gummy bear implants are a little safer than traditional silicone implants because there’s no risk of the silicone leaking out into the breast tissues if the implant shell is ruptured. Traditional silicone implants use strong shells with a negligible risk of rupturing, so they’re also safe, but they’re more likely to leak out than gummy bear implants.
Gummy bear implants also provide a unique advantage to women undergoing breast reconstruction after a mastectomy — they don’t depend on existing breast tissues. However, they also necessitate longer incisions on the skin than traditional silicone implants or saline implants.
As such, both gummy bear implants and traditional silicone implants have their unique advantages and disadvantages. gummy bear implants vs silicone cost
If you’re considering breast augmentation surgery, one of the key decisions you’ll face is the type of implant. A basic choice is between saline and silicone implants, and we won’t get into that here. If you’re leaning toward silicone implants, perhaps because of the more natural feel, another choice is now between traditional and gummy bear silicone breast implants.

What Are Gummy Bear Silicone Implants?
“Gummy bear” is the non-scientific term for form-stable or highly cohesive silicone gel implants. They are considered form-stable — and like gummy bears — because they hold their shape even when the implant shell is broken. The gel inside is thick, rather than liquid. Because they hold their form, gummy bear implants are made to a shape, either round or teardrop-shaped (tapered at the top and with more of a projection at the bottom). They add volume to the breasts while leaving them naturally soft to the touch.
How Are Gummy Bear Implants Different From Traditional Silicone Implants?
The difference from traditional silicone implants lies in the thicker consistency of the gummy bear implants’ gel. When compared with traditional implants, gummy bear implants are firmer, hold their shape better, and feel more natural to the touch. They simulate the feel of a young woman’s breast. Both gummy bear and traditional silicone implants are softer to the touch than saline implants.
For women undergoing breast reconstruction, gummy bear implants offer a unique advantage: They don’t have to be fit around the existing breast tissue.
There is also a small but important safety difference. One of the risks of early silicone implants came from rupture and the danger of the silicone leaking into surrounding breast tissue. That risk has been minimized with stronger implant shells. With gummy bear implants, the risk of leakage is even lower, as the gel is thick enough that it is less likely to spread even if the shell should break.
The surgery to place gummy bear implants requires a slightly longer incision in the skin than either traditional silicone or saline implants.
Finally, the cost of gummy bear implant surgery is usually higher than for traditional silicone implants.
Other considerations
Breast implants don’t last forever. Some implants may last for 20 or 30 years, but more likely yours will need to be replaced at some point. On average, implants are replaced or removed after 10 years. Some implants last longer than others, so be sure to ask about this when you plan a procedure with your doctor.
While the risk of rupture and leakage from gummy bear implants is lower than for traditional silicone implants when it does occur it can be harder to detect. When you get a silicone implant, traditional or gummy bear, you should be prepared to have it checked with an MRI three years after placement and then every two years for “silent leakage” — shell rupture that would otherwise go undetected.
Silicone implants, traditional and gummy bear, are approved by the FDA for breast augmentation for those ages 22 and older, or at any age for breast reconstruction following surgery or trauma. The procedure is not approved for women who are pregnant or nursing.
gummy bear implants recall
Thousands of women worldwide turn to breast augmentation to enhance their natural appearance, gaining confidence through enhancements like larger breasts, restoration of volume, and asymmetry. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach to breast enhancements — every patient’s goals are unique.
Since the mid-2000s, many women turned to the natural appearance of “gummy bear” breast implants, also known as form-stable implants. However, recent studies by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered a link between the type of breast implants and a rare form of cancer called anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL).
Now, doctors are recommending other, safer, forms of enhancement to achieve their patients’ goals. After years of evaluation of the hundreds of thousands of women who received implants over the years, gummy bear implants earned a controversial reputation. The seemingly apparent benefits fail to outweigh the looming risks of gummy bear implants caused by these qualities.
As with any surgery, there are some risks involved. Some chances, though, are not worth taking. While other saline and silicone breast implants appear to be safe, gummy bear implants have a more demonstrable link to implant-associated BIA-ALCL. Above all, your surgeon cares most about your safety and may suggest other methods to achieve your desired appearance.
What Is BIA-ALCL? Is BIA-ALCL Breast Cancer?
In 2011, the FDA identified a possible link between gummy bear implants and BIA-ALCL. But, with so few cases, they couldn’t be sure the association wasn’t merely a coincidence. With breast implants becoming increasingly popular, the World Health Organization and the FDA performed an increased number of in-depth reviews to ensure patient safety.
Recent studies confirmed the link, finding the rare form of cancer most common in patients with implants produced by the global pharmaceutical company Allergan. The FDA requested a recall of these products — that are six times more likely to cause this cancer than other existing brands — which Allergan promptly responded to, removing their product worldwide.
BIA-ALCL is not breast cancer. Instead, it’s a rare form of T-cell lymphoma found in the scar tissue and excess fluid around the actual breast implant. During surgery, your doctor carefully and strategically places the breast implants in the interior of the breasts. As your body heals, it surrounds the implant with layers of cells, tissue, and fat. BIA-ALCL is present under the fat and breast tissue, within the fibrous scar capsule.
It’s not clear what is causing this development, but research suggests it is the interaction of the textured implant’s surface with the surrounding scar tissue, built during the healing process. Because of this, most women don’t develop symptoms of BIA-ALCL until years after augmentation surgery.
What Are the Symptoms of BIA-ALCL? What’s the Treatment?
During your regular screenings, your doctor will likely administer a physical exam, use imaging, or look for evidence of fluid and a buildup of tissue around the breast implant. Tell your doctor if you experience any symptoms of BIA-ALCL, like:
If you experience these symptoms and don’t have a routine screening scheduled soon, consult your health care provider. BIA-ALCL is curable in most patients if diagnosed early. Seldomly, BIA-ALCL can spread throughout the body, which ultimately affects the treatment process.
Treatment depends on the severity, but in most cases, you’ll need to have the implant itself removed, along with the surrounding scar tissue. In the event of a more severe case, treatment may include chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
What Should You Do If You Already Have Gummy Bear Implants?
If you aren’t experiencing any BIA-ALCL symptoms, the FDA isn’t recommending the removal of existing gummy bear implants. Instead, they suggest:
For peace of mind, talk to your health care provider or surgeon for more information on your risk of BIA-ALCL. Although your risk is small, affecting only a small percentage of the 313,735 women with breast augmentations as reported in 2018, your safety is a top priority.

If you’re considering getting breast implants, schedule an appointment with an experienced surgeon to discuss your goals. You shouldn’t have to live your life with insecurities, and you deserve to feel confident about your shape. As previously mentioned, your surgeon will discuss the benefits and risks associated with breast implants.
They will walk you through each step, from the safest types of breast implants, what to expect, how to monitor for complications, and your options for eventual removal or replacement if necessary. Ultimately, your surgeon’s goal is to make you feel confident in your body in the safest way possible.
